Self-Care Sundays

Hello beautiful people, I had such a good day today and I hope you all did, too.
One of my twitter friends said before that “loving yourself can be as simple as flossing your teeth everyday.” Sooooo true. The sad thing is–sometimes, we forget or disregard giving us even the simple things like flossing our teeth!

I’d like to be honest and let you guys know that I struggle with loving myself. Maybe it comes with depression, maybe not. However, the hurts–betrayal/rejection/etc. that happens in life puts me in a dark hole sometimes that I forget the only key to my real happiness is myself.

With that said, I’d like to introduce to you all a new portion on the blog: Self-Care Sundays. For now, I will be doing this once a month and it’s simple: I will be dedicating the day to loving me and being intentional about it.

Today, I kept it simple but full of pampering 🙂
I had my hair re-touched, fixed my brows, shaved, and tried out turmeric face mask (been wanting to for so long!!)

For the turmeric mask, I used:

  • 1.5 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 1 teaspoon almond milk

I just mixed them all in a small cup and applied it on fresh face (no make-up, and gave my face a good rinse before hand) I let it sit while I waited for the dye to set in my hair and rinsed it with my facial soap afterwards.

To top it off, my wonderful husband took this lovely photo of me:

(He was so adorable while taking it–shooing people and cars away because they would stare hehehe )

What do you guys do for yourselves as a form of self-care/self-love? Let’s share ideas and help each other out. 🙂

  1. Awwwwwnnnn….your husband is so cute.
I will be looking forward to more posts from your self care Sunday.

Loving yourself is truly important, but what I struggle most with is appreciating myself, it’s the same as loving yourself I guess, cause if you love yourself you’ll appreciate yourself right?

With appreciating myself, am making no progress and it worries me, any tips?

And your picture is damn beautiful!!

    1. I’m not an expert at loving myself and I’m still learning how to as well. But one thing that does work for me in terms of appreciating myself is literally engaging in some quiet time alone and reflecting on all the good qualities that I really love and enjoy about me, as well as those that others enjoy and have openly said to me. It also helps me a lot when I reflect on the things that I’ve accomplished–big or small (for me, knowing I’ve been consistent with this blog makes me really happy and appreciative of my persistence and hard work.) It’s tough because we are our own harshest critics but sometimes even writing down a list of the good in you makes a huge difference 🙂
