Hello ladies and gents,
I am back!
I had one heck of a rollercoaster month. From where I am sitting right now, it feels as if the month flew by. However, looking back, it was really long, painful and blissful at the same time.
In the duration of my break, I was able to get in-touch with myself again. I was able to enjoy my own company and re-asses who I am and who I’d like to be, completely.
With that, I wanted to share a few wisdom I gained/re-gained for myself during this very trying season:
Anywhooo, today, I am reviewing the Cacaonut spice from OmegaSeedSpice!
I would like to thank Sarah James for reaching out to me and giving me this opportunity. It’s nice to finally feel like a professional blogger and have products sent to your home 🙂
This is my first ever product review so please bare with me and do comment any questions/suggestions you may have in order for me to do a better job next time 🙂
To start off, I would like to give a little background info on the company.
OMEGA SEED SPICE is an online shop based in Denver that produces seed-based superfood spices and seasoning. It is founded by Dez and Lauren who are very passionate about nutrition and good food.
Their products are all-natural and plant-based, 100% Kosher, Vegan/Vegetarian/Paleo friendly and Gluten-Free!
Below is a list of the spices/seasoning Omega Seed Spice has to offer:
- Barbeque
- Cajun
- Lemon Pepper
- Pink Salt+Pepper
- Buffalo
- Hot Garlic
- Italian, Curry
- Cacaonut
- Cinnaspice
**Please note that each Omega Seed Spice seasoning holds the following superfood seeds: hemp seed, flax seed, sunflower seed, pumpkin seed, poppy seed, and chia seed (my favorite!!)
I was very excited when Sarah told me I could pick a spice to try. I went through their list and read the description of each. I wanted to try all of them! However, the cacaonut really tugged on my heart. Among the spices, this one stood out as it’s something you use for desserts and breakfast!
MY REVIEW: Omega Seed Spice Cacaonut
The packaging
I like the simplicity of the label they used. Not too flashy yet provides all the details you need.It did come, however, with a very thin orange masking tape to secure the top. It was the only thing that threw me off, mostly because I’m used to seeing the plastic around the cap saying “sealed for freshness.”
The taste
I expected it to taste chocolate-y because of the cacao but it tasted more nutty. This did not surprise me, however, as the ingredients depicted the nuts and seeds in them. I love how it tasted true-to-life. I could taste almost each of the ingredients in it.
I tried the cacaonut on several dishes: sprinkled on top of my breakfast oats, on top of my purple yam and mango ice cream, as well as on my protein pancakes.
The verdict
In my opinion, the flavor is pretty subtle for a seasoning. It doesn’t add much taste to it unless used in larger quantities. If you are looking for something with a chocolate flavor to sprinkle on top, this isn’t the one. A hint of chocolate or sweetness to it would have been nice. I do commend them, however, for their great ingredients. I can tell both by sight and taste that what they used were great quality.
Though the flavor for this cacaonut spice mix could use some modifications, I greatly enjoyed knowing I am sprinkling more protein, fiber, vitamins, and omegas on my food.
Having said that, this review did not go as I expected but I will not completely close myself from trying out their other flavors. In all truth, it actually made me interested in trying out the other ones especially those used in poultry or meat. I can only imagine the rich spices being rubbed on some nice chicken breasts–yum! Not to mention, the reviews they have on Amazon are fantastic.
Please send me feedback on how I did with my first ever product review 🙂 Also, which omega seed spice seasoning would you like to try? Share with me in the comments below!
xoxo,
This sounds like a interesting product, I use a mix from whole foods thats similar but without cacao. Do you know if this available in the UK? Great review!

The ingredients sounded promising, but too bad it’s not that noticeable. Would have loved to give it a try otherwise.

the nuts and seeds were definitely noticeable. It was the cacao that was very faint. 🙂
